MASTERCLASS | Risk Based Precautionary Allergen Labelling
From guesswork to evidence-based allergen communication
Why not attend our other allergen events too? This year we are presenting 2x PACKAGE OFFERINGS to attend a combination of our public training events at a discounted price! Click here for details.
In today’s food safety landscape, vague allergen communication is no longer sufficient. Consumers, regulators, clients and industry partners expect allergen management to be grounded in science – transparent, reliable, and defensible. The cornerstone of this approach is robust allergen management and quantitative risk assessment (QRA). A method that determines whether allergen cross-contact poses a genuine risk to allergic individuals, and then guides control measures and communication accordingly.
This masterclass is designed for professionals responsible for allergen risk analysis and communication across manufacturing, retail, import, and export. It offers the tools and insights needed to move beyond generic precautionary allergen labelling (PAL) and toward meaningful, data-driven communication. You will learn how to apply QRA principles to material specifications, product development, recall decision-making and PAL, ensuring that allergen controls are not only compliant but also contextually justified.
You will gain a deep understanding of threshold-based risk assessment, and learn how to incorporate key variables – such as analytical results, cross-contact form, carryover levels, and product consumption information – into robust risk calculations. By mastering these techniques, you’ll be equipped to minimise unnecessary PAL, reduce consumer confusion, justify decisions with confidence, and communicate allergen risks with clarity.
Join us to elevate your allergen strategy and lead with evidence, not assumptions.
In addition to our public training calendar, we also offer in-house training which can be hosted virtually or on-site. Our in-house training can be structured according to your availability and customised to address your specific challenges.
