Report Information and Important Notices

An ‘incident’ is a documented occurrence of food fraud in a food ingredient or product within a defined timeframe. Incidents are often reported in the media, and tend to include contextual and supporting information about the perpetrator, motive, geographic location and/or other characteristics.

Our reports are collated using information from multiple reputable sources (references available upon request), carefully reviewed by our team of experts, and presented in an easy-to-understand format. The purpose of this report is to provide a snapshot of global food fraud happenings and incidents based on information gathered from relevant sources. To raise awareness around occurrences of food fraud, the report is designed to alert you to current vulnerabilities, support your VACCP system, and in some cases, initiate a system review.

Please note that some of the incidents captured might represent an ongoing or past cases, and that further investigation should be done on the actual timeframe of the occurrence. On request, we can supply you with more information about each incident if it is available (such as incident references, or the number of affected products seized by authorities).

Although we take great care to ensure that the information we share is reliable, FACTS cannot guarantee or comment on the accuracy of the source information.
