The FACTS Targeted Proteomics (by LC-MS/MS) allergen-detection method has been optimised, validated and has now achieved SANAS accreditation.
The FACTS laboratory team have worked diligently to optimise, validate and achieve SANAS accreditation for the Targeted Proteomics (by LC-MS/MS) testing method for allergen detection.
Why is FACTS migrating to Targeted Proteomics (by LC-MS/MS) as a preferred allergen-detection method?
Our pursuit to implement the most up-to-date practices and technologies for allergen detection has led us to adopt the Targeted Proteomics (by LC-MS/MS) allergen detection method.
The first AOAC Official Method of Analysis for food-allergen detection of food allergens in food matrices was recently published. It is important to note that although this is not a First Action Method, allergen detection by LC-MS/MS is the only food allergen detection methodology that has been found to meet the relevant AOAC standard method performance requirements to date.

Please be assured that our accredited ELISA and PCR methods will continue to be available.
What is the cost structure for the Targeted Proteomics (by LC-MS/MS), ELISA and PCR testing methods?
Targeted Proteomics (by LC-MS/MS)
The volume-based discount structure for Targeted Proteomics (by LC-MS/MS) analyses will be as follows from the 19th of July:
- 10% discount if 6 to 10 allergen detection analyses are requested in a single order
- 15% discount if 11-plus allergen detection analyses are requested in a single order
Please note: To qualify for a volume-based discount for Targeted Proteomics (by LC-MS/MS), any combination of allergen tests can be requested on one order; e.g. if an LC-MS/MS order is received for three milk analyses and three soy analyses, the discount will apply.
For as long as it has been commercially available, we have offered a 10% pre-accreditation discount on our LC-MS/MS analysis. From 19 July 2021, this discount will no longer apply.
ELISA/PCR
The volume-based discount structure for ELISA/PCR analyses will remain the same, which is as follows:
- 10% discount if 6 to 10 of the same allergen detection analyses are requested in a single order
- 15% discount if 11-plus of the same allergen detection analyses are requested in a single order
Please note: To qualify for a discount on ELISA and PCR analyses, i.e. 10% discount for 6 to 10 of the same allergen analyses which must be requested in the same order.
