04 June | Promoting Food Safety Culture in a Time of Crisis

Food safety culture is an essential attribute for food manufacturing facilities to create, implement and improve to ensure the production of safe food for their customers. This culture can be tested in times of crisis by employee absences, pressure to ensure business continuity and implementation of new practices to control the spread of COVID-19. Join these experts for a deep-dive into the concept of food safety culture, tools and activities to develop and improve it, requirements for industry standards such as GFSI recognized standards for food safety culture, and communication strategies with employees to enhance food safety culture within a food manufacturing facility. They will be joined by a strategic partner to discuss the use of industry tools to develop and implement a food safety culture program within food facilities.

28 May | Sanitisers in a time of COVID-19 webinar

A SAAFoST event in which presenters Caroline Snyman (Marketing Management Innovation Leader at Distell) and Dr Stefan Hayward (Department of Food Science – Stellenbosch University) will speak on the topic of sanitisers and food waste in the time of COVID-19.

28 May | Food Supply Chain Secrets in the World of COVID-19

Decernis will leverage its global client base to explore information shared – anonymously – from their clients on some of the challenges they are facing and then present them systematically. The Panel will review some of the challenges Food Producers and Distributors face and the corresponding ingredients concerns supply chains are facing, fed anonymously by their clients throughout the supply chain.  A major ingredient manufacturer will talk about challenges in sourcing and innovating in the current COVID-19 environment as well as what downstream impact we can expect.  Finally, we will visit the concept of changing consumer preferences both in the short and long-term.
