AlerTox®● Sticks Crustacean uses a combination of monoclonal antibodies to detect a major crustacean antigen (Met e 1 & Cra c 1) tropomyson. Tropomyson is found in crustacean (shrimp) muscle, and the test exhibits no known cross-reactivity with fish, molluscs or other meats.

The kit is capable of detecting the antigens of insects, mites and spiders, and thus can also be used to detect cross-contamination of foods (for example grains or flour) with insects.

The test is easy to perform, and has a range of detection (ROD) of 10-10 000 ppm.

Results can be generated in as little as 10-15 minutes, with no need for any special equipment.

* When testing ingredients or finished products, it is strongly recommended that it is confirmed that the kit manufacturer has validated the system for the particular type of matrix.
