AlerTox®●Sticks Fish uses a combination of antibodies against tropomyosin, a major protein antigen found in the striated muscle of bony fish. The test also detects a related antigen from cartilaginous fish (sharks and sturgeon), though with a significantly lower sensitivity.

Raw fish species that can be detected with the kit are cod, scamp grouper, sea perch, pike, red grouper, sea bass, mangrove snapper, pollock, zander, pangasius, carp, red snapper, turbot, anchovy and hake.

AlerTox®●Sticks Fish does not detect the antigens of crustaceans such as shrimp, prawn, lobster and crab, or molluscs and lamprey.

The test is easy to perform, and has a range of detection (ROD) of 5-1 000 ppm.

No special equipment is required, and results can be generated in as little as 10-15 minutes.
