BIOGRAPHY
Shannon completed her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Food Science at Stellenbosch University, graduating both degrees cum laude. In her Honours year, she worked on using grape pomace waste from the production of wine to develop a gluten-free pretzel snack.
Shannon’s postgraduate studies were focused on the development of an edible coating for the post-harvest quality management of exported stone fruit. She is passionate about food and research; her postgraduate work has been published and presented at local and international conferences.
Shannon forms part of the Bespoke Testing department at FACTS, using her analytical skills, knowledge of food science and some ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking to help solve atypical industry challenges.
In her free time, Shannon enjoys cooking, visiting new places, and braai-ing with friends and family.
