Country of origin on a food label
How do you know when to use ‘Product of’, and when to use ‘Produced in’? Can you use ‘Packed in’? The country of origin statement is a mandatory requirement on all food labels, according to the labelling regulations (R. 146). But if your food product falls under certain regulations in the Agricultural Products Standards Act or the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications Act, the applicable regulation may have slightly different requirements for declaring the country of origin. These requirements override the R. 146 requirements.
